Down’s Syndrome
What is Down’s syndrome?
Down’s syndrome is a lifelong genetic condition caused by having an extra copy of chromosome 21, affecting a person’s physical development, learning and the way their body grows and functions.
Every person with Down’s syndrome is unique. Some live independently with minimal support, while others need more assistance with daily living throughout their lives. With the right care, encouragement and opportunities, people with Down’s syndrome can lead happy, fulfilling and active lives.
