Motor Neurone Disease (MND)

What is Motor Neurone Disease?

Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is a rare, progressive condition that affects the nerves in the brain and spinal cord responsible for controlling muscles. As these nerves become damaged, muscles gradually weaken, making it more difficult to move, speak, swallow and, eventually, breathe.

MND affects everyone differently and progresses at different rates. Although there is currently no cure, the right care and support can help people maintain their independence, comfort and quality of life for as long as possible.
