Specialised Support FAQs

At Candlelight Care, many of our care and support workers have completed additional specialist training, giving them the knowledge, skills, and confidence to provide tailored support to people in the comfort of their own homes.

We can support individuals living with a wide range of conditions and diagnoses through our Specialised Support. To learn more about some of the conditions we are experienced in supporting, please visit our Specialised Support Services page.

If your condition or diagnosis is not listed, we still encourage you to get in touch. Our team will be happy to discuss your individual needs and explore how we may be able to support you.

We are committed to providing the highest standards of care and ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and comfort of both our clients and care and support workers.

All members of our care team complete a comprehensive induction programme when they join us, regardless of their previous experience or qualifications. This ensures that every team member is equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to deliver exceptional care from day one.

At Candlelight, we are proud to be recognised for our expertise in dementia care, stroke rehabilitation, and end-of-life (palliative) care. To support the diverse needs of our clients, we offer a wide range of additional training opportunities that help our care teams further develop their skills and understanding.

Many of our care and support workers choose to specialise in more complex areas of care. Where a client has a specific condition or diagnosis, we can provide tailored training to ensure our team is fully prepared to meet their individual needs.

We also actively encourage all care support workers who do not already hold a Level 2 Diploma or NVQ in Health and Social Care to work towards this qualification and continue their professional development beyond it.

We work closely with our clients, their families, and healthcare professionals to ensure care remains personalised, responsive, and focused on achieving the best possible outcomes. Should you or your loved one’s needs change, we will review and update the care plan to ensure you continue to receive the right level of support. Our flexible approach to care allows us to adapt quickly to changing circumstances, whether that involves increasing support, adjusting care routines, coordinating additional healthcare services, or making changes to the care team.

We regularly review care plans to ensure they continue to reflect each client’s changing needs and personal circumstances. Depending on the individual’s condition and level of support required, reviews may take place every few months or more frequently if needed.

We also encourage clients and their families to contact us at any time if they feel adjustments are required. By maintaining open communication, we can respond promptly and ensure care remains personalised, effective, and tailored to the individual’s wellbeing.

Simply call your nearest Candlelight branch or fill in the website contact form and we will call you. We will be happy to answer any immediate questions and tell you more about the ways we can help. If you are happy with what you hear, the next step will be to arrange for one of our Team to visit you in your own home.  This visit is often called an initial assessment. It does not put you under any obligation to buy services from us.

Depending on your individual circumstances and the type of support required, your care service can start very quickly once the initial assessment has been completed.  We will agree a care plan with you and ask you to sign a client agreement. Once this is done, we can allocate suitable staff to you and your service can begin (usually within 24 to 48 hours). Where a rapid response is required, give us a call, as we may be able to provide support the same day.

The first thing to do is contact us, the more information you can give us, the better we can guide you to the most appropriate care services. Our team of highly trained staff are here to help. It does not put you under any obligation to buy services from us.

We are a multi-award winning, CQC regulated, trusted and approved Care provider with over 38 years of experience providing high quality care to people in their own homes. We work collaboratively alongside the CQC, HMRC, the Home Office, Local Authorities and the NHS, as well as holding a Cyber Essentials Plus certificate. This is an advanced UK government-backed cybersecurity certification that verifies your organisation’s implementation of key security controls through independent technical testing.

We recruit based on values, as the skills required are taught by our dedicated in-house trainers. We value our Teams, and we place a very high importance on training and communication. We invest heavily in this to ensure our care staff have the skills and knowledge to enable you to get the best out of your service. All our care teams receive the core induction training, and we can provide specialised training on more complex needs and equipment when required.

We have an obligation to provide you with care 365 days a year, and the ability to support you throughout the entirety of your Care Journey. Smaller, unregulated providers, or self-employed carers, are unable to provide you with the same assurances that we can, offering you complete peace of mind and a trusted reliable service.
